DENSO Philippines Corporation (DNPH), a company that produces automotive components, inked an agreement with ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc. – Bantay Kalikasan (ALKFI – BK) to properly dispose and recycle its electronic wastes.

According to Kea Micole Eliz Maristela, Denso Philippines’ Pollution Control Officer and Safety, Health & Environment Team Leader, DNPH generated a total of 11.38 metric tons of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment for the fiscal year of 2017. She also pointed out that the majority of electronic wastes they will be donating are printed circuit boards, computer parts, and electronics from their support groups.

Heads and representatives of Denso Philippines laid their hands together with ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc., and Envirocare Management and Precision, Inc. heads to show the new partnership that was made to help protect the environment. The MOA signing was participated by DENSO Philippines' President, Shoji Kurikawa; Denso Philippines' Vice President/Plant Manager, Mutsumi Furuhashi; ALKFI Marketing Head, Paul Vincent S. Mercado; and Envirocare Management Precision Inc.’s President, Ariel Entico.

With ALKFI-BK’s partner Envirocare Management Precision, the electronic wastes collected will be recycled, treated, and properly disposed. They will also recover the precious metals from these wastes such as tin and copper in which the monetary value will be donated to Bantay Kalikasan to support its assisted communities around the country.

“We are dealing with the transport of various hazardous waste and we are focused on the destructions mechanically and manually for electronic waste such as computers and CPUs, and all other electronic and electrical waste,” Ariel Entico, Envirocare Management Precision’s President and CEO said.

“We would be employing some methods that would entail zero waste to landfill by bringing some of the residues or materials that has no more recycling value for co-processing,” he added.

Last year, DNPH also signed an agreement with ALKFI to properly dispose and recycle their used oil, used solvent, and used lead-acid batteries.

Aside from the initiatives on proper disposal of toxic wastes, DNPH has a global program for carbon dioxide reduction and is also active in participating in tree planting, germination, and clean-up activities

Maristela added that they are looking for future partnerships with ALKFI.

“As a Pollution Control Officer, I firmly believe that ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya is a trustworthy partner in managing our hazardous wastes. We are also eyeing to join some of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya employee engagement activities as our next possible partnership.”
