BK – Mindoro Communities Get to Know Bees
Pulot Tadyawan Association, a beneficiary of Bantay Kalikasan in Oriental Mindoro, with 60 members of Mangyan community, underwent beekeeping training for conservation and utilization of native bees for pollination and production of valuable hives. Together with them are representatives from Department of Social Welfare Development, beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), members of Bees & Beyond Group, the local government unit of Victoria, Oriental Mindoro and Brgy. Loyal, and Bantay Kalikasan.

The training of UP Los Baños Laguna’s Research and Extension office headed by Dr. Cleofas Cervancio, its Professor Emeritus, provided the participants with basic knowledge in beekeeping that will help them manage, propagate, and protect the bees. The participants also learned how to create and process bee products, and learn about the importance of bees in the environment as pollinators.
