Express Warmth of Love in Children’s Village
Study shows that 75% of children are subjected to violence each year – marking child abuse as a widespread phenomenon that can occur anytime, anywhere.
Violence against children takes many forms- physical, sexual, and emotional, as well as neglect and deprivation. Such violence does not only inflictharm and pain; it can also kill.
Part of the core values of Bantay Bata 163, the child protection arm of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya, is to provide facilities in addressing the needs of children at risk, thus Children’s Village was established.
Since 2003, the village has become instrumental in helping the rescued children to heal and recover from trauma of abuse. The Village has helped over thousands of youth in bringing back their hopes and dreams.
However, in 2014, the operation was temporarily halted to facilitate the renovation of the Village. Several donors generously contributed to help improve the Village's structure to caterthe needs of the children more effectively.
Despite the Village’s temporary closure, Bantay Bata 163 did not cease in providing aidto children who are victims of abuse.
Fast forward to December 2018, Children's Village is set to open its doors once again.
Rustan Supercenters Inc. has donated brand new toys, clothes and more gifts to welcome the children into their new home.
“It is very disheartening to see children in the streets, with no food and proper shelter. We would like to be part of Children’s Village to help reintegrate the children with right values and pursue their dreams and become a better citizen of the country.”, acclaimed by Marvi Flores, AVP for Corporate Communication Rustan Supercenters Inc.. This the first time that Rustan’s partnered with Bantay Bata 163and definitely will not be the last.
Bantay Bata 163 believes that it takes a village to raise a child, to fill them with an embracing love so they can surpass their horrible experience of violence, exploitation and abuse.
