The Village's Appeal
For 21 years, Bantay Bata 163 has been unwavering in its mission tolove and protect the Filipino children, and remainsa stalwart force in thefight for children’s rights. From a hotline for reporting child abuse, the organization has grown in reach and scope, tackling the deeply-rooted issues of poverty, inequality and violence through holistic support services aimed at producing citizens with a deep sense of social responsibility and action.
In 2003, Bantay Bata 163 opened the Children’s Village, a temporary shelter for disadvantaged children. Over the years, it served as a home for hundreds of children. It is designed to provide therapeutic family-like environment with houseparents providing day to day supervision, along with social workers and medical professionals to provide holistic healing. It has medication rooms, arts and crafts room, music room, kindergarten play area and a library. It also has multi-purpose halls and cottages where children stay.
More than just a structure, the Children’s Village is a symbol of hope that children can have a better future. It became an avenue where healing, recovery and transformation take place.
After closing in 2014 for rehabilitation and reconstruction to provide improved services, Bantay Bata 163 is set to relaunch the Children’s Village this December to cater to more children who need help.
