“I am very happy that they are getting the opportunity to continue with their education which should open up their mind to a lot of possibilities. Follow your aspirations, follow your dreams, and we will try our best to support you with it.”

These were the words of Singapore Airlines’ General Manager Balagopal Kunduvara upon hearing the dreams of the kids. As a scholar, Kunduvara has made it his personal advocacy to support Bantay Edukasyon, Bantay Bata 163’s scholarship program.

Bantay Edukasyon conducted their Opening Assembly for the school year 2018-2019. Present in the event are the elementary scholars and their parents from Manila and Laguna, Bantay Bata staff, and its long time partner, Singapore Airlines (SIA).

Every year, Bantay Edukasyon, along with SIA and other partners, gathers and motivates the scholars as they begin another journey in their education. The assembly also became a venue for scholars to show their talents and appreciation to their educational sponsors. This year, scholars interpreted their dreams through a dance number. They are dressed as teachers, nurses and, engineers and sea-based workers. Manila scholars also had a dance number and poem recital. Representatives from Singapore Airlines were amazed on how these scholars grow and are indeed pleased to see how these kids developed through the years.

As an activity, the scholars also drew how they envision themselves in the future. Some want to be in the medical field to cure and take care of sick people. Others want to be a teacher so they can continue to share their knowledge and skills with other generation. Some want to be a pilot and flight attendant so they can travel the world. These kids are full of dreams, making Bantay Bata 163 staff and Singapore Airlines’ happy and proud.

“Gusto ko pong maging doktor para matulungan ko ang ibang taong may sakit. Kahit wala po silang pera, gagamutin ko sila.” (I want to be a doctor so I can cure ill-people. I will help them even if they do not have enough money for the medication.) shared by Zerah Miguel, one of the elementary scholars.
