Bantay Kalikasan communities nationwide join climate strike on Gina Lopez’s 40th Day
ABS-CBN Foundation’s late chairman Gina Lopez may be physically gone, but her advocacies live on.
Simultaneous environmental activities were held in different Bantay Kalikasan and iLOVE (Investment in Loving Organization on Village Economies) Foundation sites nationwide to show support for the recent global climate strike. Climate strike is a global protest to demand action on the climate change issue.
Environmental initiatives coincided with “Celebration of Love”, a commemoration of the 40th day since Gina Lopez’s passing, to show the continued commitment of organizations in protecting the environment. ABS-CBN executives planted trees at the La Mesa Ecopark where “Garden of Love” was built to honor Lopez’s legacy. Present during the tree planting activity were Gina’s family, friends, ABS-CBN President and CEO, Carlo Katigbak; ABS-CBN Executive adviser to chairman, Charo Santos-Concio; Chairman Emeritus, Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III; Creative Programs Inc. Head, Ernie Lopez and ABS-CBN Managing Director, Susan Afan. “Bagong Adlau” seedlings were planted beside the “Garden of Love”. It’s known to be the strongest among the iron wood trees.
