“Malaking tulong po sa amin ito kasi ma-segregate po ang mga basura namin. Ine-encourage ko ang lahat na magkaroon ng pagtutulungan para ang mga basura po namin ay matapon nang tama”.

This is what Elsie Nacilam said, Chairman, Silverspring Homeowners Association (HOA) of Tumana, Marikina after JPMorgan Chase volunteers spent time with the community. 50 employees performed simultaneous activities such as construction and painting of segregation bins and clean-up along Tumana-Malanday Creek linear park. The area is ABS-CBN Foundation’s Bantay Kalikasan project in partnership with Sun Life Foundation and Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC).

Volunteers also learned how to make bokashi balls, also known as the Mabuhay balls, which are composed of clay soil and effective micro-organisms that can help neutralize 1,000 liters of toxic water. As the activity concluded, 200 bokashi balls were thrown into the Tumana-Malanday creek.
