Batteries contain lead acid content, which, if not properly disposed, might affect the health and well-being of every human being alive. Likewise, used oils can contaminate the soil, air, water if, too, not properly disposed, thereby causing great damage to the environment. 

Bantay Kalikasan, through its Bantay Baterya and Langis Projects, recently joined the Eco-Industrial Exchange Resource Recovery Event – an environmental exhibit and resource recovery event of various industrial parks and locators in CALABARZON that invites them to turnover their hazardous wastes for proper disposal and recycling.

 “The truth of the matter is dito sa Laguna, concentrated halos lahat iyong mga industrial company, kaya nga labing-isa  iyong industrial zone namin dito na economic zone”, said Gil Abaquin, President of EcoIndex.

The event was participated by various environmental groups and advocates. Bantay Kalikasan likewise participated to recycle used oils and used lead-acid batteries from different partners in the area.

“There is pollution and we need to enhance the quality of our environment,” said Geri-Geronimo Sanez, Chief Hazardous Waste Management, DENR-EMB

This event commences the series of hauling hazardous wastes, which will last until June 21, 2019.
