JPMorgan Chase employee volunteers recently potted six hundred Kupang germinants or tree-seedlings at the La Mesa Watershed – the only watershed in Metro Manila and one of the primary sources of drinking water of 12 million residents in the city.

Kupang is an endemic tree species that has buttress roots which filter the water before it goes to the watershed. Together with other endemic tree species in La Mesa, it holds the reservoir to prevent soil erosion.

Since January, JPMorgan Chase employees have successfully potted a total of 1,988 Kupang germinants in preparation for the actual tree-planting activities set from June to September of this year.

The Save the La Mesa Watershed Project is one of the many endeavors of ABS-CBN Bantay Kalikasan in ensuring that the nature is sustained for the next generations to come.
