TREDTWO Community Service Program of De La Salle University Manila, specifically sections N02 and C33, recently turned over signage, sanitary bins, and painting materials to the Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig, a project of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya’s Bantay Kalikasan to clean and improve the condition of the esteros connected to the Pasig River.

The students raised funds to purchase the cleaning implements during their school fair. They sold crinkles, cotton candy, ice candy, ice cream and organized a raffle of prizes. They also set up a Facebook page to page to raise awareness and organized a seminar wherein they collected donations from the participants.

Daryl Santos, of the student leaders, stated, "Ginawa namin 'to hindi lang para makapasa. Ginawa namin 'to para makatulong talaga sa kanila. ‘Yung mga awards na kung ano mang makukuha namin, extra lang 'yun. Ginawa namin 'to para makatulong sa mga taong sumusuporta sa KBPIP".  (We did this not just to pass the subject but also to help them. The awards that we received were just bonuses. We did this to help the people who support KBPIP.)

Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP) or the rehabilitation project of Pasig River and its tributaries (estero) was launched in February 2009. Until now, the advocacy of saving and improving the condition of Pasig River is continuously being strengthened together with the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission, its donors, partners, and volunteers. To date, 16 esteros had been rehabilitated by KBPIP and other partners.
