Bantay Kalikasan: Reaching out to the Communities
Through the years, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya's Bantay Kalikasan, its environmental arm, has implemented several projects concerning the environmental issues in the country. More than their commitment in protecting and developing the nature, they also share good vibes to some of their partner communities through gift-giving.
Last December 2016, the Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig of Bantay Kalikasan partnered with World Wide Fund of Nature (WWFN) to conduct a gift-giving activity at the Paco Market Activity Center. Around 100 kids from the community received early Christmas gifts and enjoyed the fun game activities.
The Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig is the river rehabilitation project of Bantay Kalikasan, which aims to sustain the cleanliness of the waterways in Metro Manila.
With the assistance of Iba Resettlement Organic Garden Association, Bantay Kalikasan and Bantay Bata 163 brought smiles to 144 children of Iba, Zambales. Aside from receiving gift packs of food, toys, and school supplies, children and young members of the community participated in games, fun activities and merienda. Some talented children enthusiastically showcased their talents through song and dance numbers.
The gift-giving activity was made possible through the help of the following donors: Dr. Binky Afan, Rex Bookstore, Pirkko & Troy Tours, Inc., Ron Jon Transport & Car Rental & Services, UNISAFE, RMDC, Chef R Us, Monte, and Jewels.
The community of Sitio San Ysiro, Brgy. San Jose Antipolo also received grocery items, school supplies and children’s books from Bantay Kalikasan and its generous partners: G Stuff, REX Book Store, Pirkko & Troy Tours, Inc., Adtel Baron Solar and friends. Solar kits were also donated since the area has no stable supply of electricity yet. Farmers also received a new rotavator and seeds.
Apart from the gift-giving, another milestone unfolded between the people's organization and Bantay Kalikasan as they renewed their commitment to the partnership through signing of the memorandum of agreement.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the people's organization of Sitio San Ysiro also had a renewal of commitment for protecting the area and supporting the livelihood and advocacy projects of the people's organization.
Bantay Kalikasan continues its mission to protect, nurture, and assist in promoting environmental awareness and bringing progress in the Philippines, one community at a time.
