Eight of the most severely Yolanda -affected baranggays in Dulag Leyte are now addressing the problem of food sufficiency and security of the town. With the help of development interventions of Bantay Kalikasan ( BK) of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation , residents are now involved in organic vegetable production. The project provides free training on environment friendly farming technologies which include training on the construction of organic nurseries, a 6 storey vertical garden, container vegetable garden at herbarium. There are also modules on vermin cluture, vermin compost production, natural pesticide production and organic vegetable production

Along with the training provided by BK is the establishment of the San Jose Farmers Learning Field on Organic Vegetable Production. It serves as a demo farm where farmers from different barangays will learn how to blend their indigenous knowledge on farming with new scientific farming methods and how to increase productivity and profitability of their produce.
